Parallel Tracks: The Imaginal and the Practical

About Me

If you are Jungian oriented, you might think of your 4 Functions. Jung believed that a psychologically developed individual has full access to all four kinds of intelligence- a feeling, a thinking, an intuitive, and a sensation awareness.

Carl Gustav Jung, MD (1875–1961)

The father of modern depth psychology, believed that each of us have our own answers, often buried deep within our unconscious. To ferret out future actions and decisions, we explore the symbolism of dreams, drawings, and imaginings. We look at the influences in our early life to better understand the original conclusions, which no longer serve us today.

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside dreams; who looks inside awakens.” We must remember, too “there is no light without shadow, and no psychic wholeness without imperfection. To round itself out, life calls not for perfection, but for completeness; and for this the ‘thorn in the flesh’ is needed, the suffering of defects without which there is no progress and no ascent.” -CG Jung

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross, MD (1926-2004)

She believed that we must grieve our “unfinished business” in order to live life more fully. In the grieving process, all emotions are acceptable. Feelings are neither right or wrong, good or bad; rather, they are guides for our evolving self-definition. It’s what we do with our feelings that matters. In the safety of a therapeutic coaching or consultation session, which is confidential and non-judgmental, it is possible to gently uncover old wounds in order to reinvest our energy more creatively in the present.

“People are like stained glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

The most beautiful people are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These people have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.” -Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

TOGETHER

Together, we can look at all aspects of who you are now, and who you want to become, before you leave this life on earth.

In addition to focusing on the current issue, you can explore your strengths and weaknesses in each quadrant, and how each of our quadrants may influence other aspects of who we are.

“Ask yourself what makes you come alive, so that you can do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
-Howard Washington Thurman
